Job Title: Bus Driver

Reports To: Director of Transportation

Contracted Days: 178

 

Job Summary: Provides safe and efficient transportation to and from school for students according to established routes and within established times and guidelines; provides safe efficient transportation to students on extra-curricular or other non-route trips

 

 

Essential Duties:

 

Daily duties and responsibilities

  • Performs and properly completes daily pre-trip inspections.

  • Defensively drives specific route transporting students to and from school in a timely manner. o Addresses behavior problems when necessary

  • Maintains open communication with parents.

  • Uses chain-of-command to report major disciplinary problems.

  • Inspects bus for damage at end of each run. o Sweeps bus and leaves it in clean condition.

  • Completes paperwork. Examples may include:

  •  

    Student count.
    Record of mileage.
    Accident reports.
    Maintenance requests

 

Duties performed as needed:

  • Attends safety meetings, in-service training, and other workshops.

  • Attends orientation meeting.

  • Wash bus.

  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must possess a valid Arkansas Class B CDL with P and S endorsements.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds; frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and ability to adjust focus.
