Job Description

 

Job Title: Dyslexia Interventionist

Reports To: Building Principal

Contracted Days: 180

 

Job Summary: To assist students who are identified with dyslexia and/or characteristics of dyslexia by implementing the district dyslexia intervention. Should possess the ability to work with various aged students, adapt to different levels and needs of the students, build a strong rapport with parents and colleagues, and have the desire to work in a student-centered environment. They should also have good organization and communication skills.

 

Essential Duties:

  • Be trained in district dyslexia intervention program

  • Implement the district dyslexia intervention program

  • Work with small groups of students that have dyslexia and/or characteristics of dyslexia

  • Prepare lesson plans for various groups of students

  • Conduct appropriate assessments (under the guidance of the dyslexia coordinator)

  • Maintain all necessary student records required by the dyslexia program

  • Work closely with the dyslexia coordinator and other interventionists through observations and coaching to ensure the fidelity of the dyslexia intervention program

  • Attend weekly PLC meetings with the dyslexia intervention team

  • Maintain student confidentiality

  • Effectively observes assigned work hours.

  • Maintains a pattern of prompt and regular attendance.

  • Follows the daily schedule as prescribed.

  • Work with middle and high school-aged students

  • Participates in staff development opportunities provided by the district

  • Demonstrates a positive attitude toward work assignments..

  • Other duties may be assigned

 

Qualifications: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • 60 College Hours or Passing Scores on the Paraprofessional Assessment
